Located right off the 99 highway in Richmond BC, I went in with mediocre expectations. Chop was attached to a newly built hotel chain (something like Delta or Sandman) and right beside Steve Nash Sports Club. When I walked in, the atmosphere was darkly lit and the furnishing was up scale modern. It was what you would expect a new Joeys or Cactus club to look like. They had a huge dining section and a tunnel that led to the lounge area. The staff was really friendly and efficient. Continue reading
My Korean bff brought me to Ma Dang Coul for some authentic Korean dinner dishes. It was a small, homely but quaint restaurant located on Denman street (a.k.a. “foodie avenue”). After finishing three dishes, the bill came out to be $30.00 (with tip) which was decent because we were fully satisfied with the portions. They have daily dish specials and I was told that they have the best deal on Tuesdays. I always love the barley tea they serve at korean restaurants and had 3-4 cups! Apparently Koreans aren’t as into drinking tea at dinner time as the Chinese which is why I had to ask them to refill my tea a couple times. Continue reading
To me, having dim sum is as important to my Cantonese/Hong Kong culture as Afternoon tea is to the English. Kirin is one of the most reliable Chinese restaurants in quality and in service. I’ve had so many shrimp dumplings and siu mais in my life that I can immediately distinguish between a gem and a cz. Kirin’s shrimp dumplings and siu mais are just cloudy diamonds to me. Perfect on the outside but just mediocre when you eat it. Continue reading
Tucked away on Cornwall street sits a small Japanese restaurant known for it’s fresh sashimi and creative dishes by Chef Sado San. After first walking by 7 years ago, I finally got to try it!
They are most famously known for their Omakase menu, aka: Leave it to the chef menu where every course is a surprise. The Omakase is a hit or miss with every customer. I love all kinds of seafood and sashimi and don’t have any major dislikes so i enjoyed it. If you do have any specific preferences you should tell the waitress before ordering. What I don’t understand is why this meal took 3 hours of my life away from me. Honestly, if a meal were to take 3 hours it better be the best thing I’ve ever tasted. Continue reading
